The crisis forced Russian farmers to tighten their belts. Milk producers were the first to drop down the crisis hole. Because of the disastrous plunge of prices, they were left with no other choice as to slaughter cattle and get rid of unprofitable assets. Plant growers suffered as well. Because of lack of demand, some of them failed to sell anything since July. Only poultry and pig breeders benefited, but the only reason was protection measures taken by the government.
